Kevin Cummings

Executive Director

Kevin has been involved with the Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation and the Bay State Games since 1984. Kevin started with the organization as a Sport Coordinator and was promoted to Executive Director in 1999.

Kevin served as the President of the National Congress of State Games from 2005 – 2007. He has served on the National Congress of State Games Board of Directors for over 12 years and is currently chair of the State Games of America Committee which is responsible for the evaluation and selection of locations for the biannual State Games National Championship. He is also the representative for the National Congress of State Games at the United States Olympic Committee's Multi-Sport Organizational Council.

Kevin is a 1983 graduate of Boston College where he served as the manager of the men’s basketball team. Kevin has served as a member of the Boston Marathon Organizing Committee as Coordinator of Volunteer Finish Security since 1997. He is a member of the Falmouth Road Race Organizing Committee and also works as a consultant for Dave McGillivary Sports Enterprises (DMSE), assisting with the operation of many mass participatory events including the Beach to Beacon Road Race, the Jimmy Fund Walk and the Feaster Five Road Race. Kevin has worked two Olympic Games including the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta and the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Kevin has also served as a statistician for the Boston College football and basketball teams, as well as the New England Patriots, since the mid 1980's.

Kevin resides in Medford with his wife Jeanne. He has a son, Matthew, who graduated from Springfield College and a daughter, Erin, who recently graduated from the University of Nebraska.

Erika Sheinhait

Director of Communications

Erika was named the Director of Communications in March 2022 after spending three and a half years as Communications Coordinator and two summers as a public relations and operations intern. She completed her degree in sport management in December 2017 from Western New England University and finished her MBA in June 2019. While at WNE, she worked in the Office of Athletic Communications where she helped produce content for the athletics website and social media pages and served as a statistician at home athletic events. She was also a four-year member and two-time captain of the varsity women’s swimming team at WNE. In the summer of 2016, Erika studied abroad at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. There, she had the opportunity to attend several Olympic events and study The Olympic Partner (TOP) sponsorship program. Erika also currently serves as chair of the National Congress of State Games (NCSG) Communications Committee. Outside of Bay State Games, Erika serves the head coach of a local USA Swimming club team.

Alanis Tirabassi

Director of Operations

Alanis was named Director of Operations in March 2022 after serving as Sports Coordinator for three years and as an operations intern for the 2018 Winter and Summer Games. She is a graduate of Salem State University, where she received her Bachelor’s in Sport Management with a minor in Marketing. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in sport leadership from Endicott College, where she also serves on the Endicott Women in Sport Leaders Committee. Alanis currently serves as the Chair of the Awards Committee for the National Congress of State Games (NCSG). Alanis also spends time working for Kraft Sports and Entertainment and has volunteered for the Boston Marathon in recent years. One of her career highlights is working at the 2017 USGA Men’s Senior Open. A fun fact about Alanis is that she has been skydiving.

Jameer Alves

Operations Intern

Tufts University '25

Jameer Alves joins Bay State Games as an Operations intern for the 2024 Summer Games. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia Jameer is currently in his junior year at Tufts University playing defensive back for the Jumbo football team while studying biopsychology and chemistry. Currently interning for multiple departments for Tufts Athletics, with his free time Jameer enjoys spending time with family & friends, riding his skateboard, or watching sports.

Maeve Clark

Operations Intern

Ithaca College '27

Maeve Clark joins Bay State Games as an Operations Intern for the 2024 Summer Games. Maeve is from Beverly, MA, and graduated from Hamilton Wenham High School in 2023. Last year, she attended Monmouth University, where she played field hockey and studied communications. Next year she will continue playing field hockey at Ithaca College, studying sports media and advertising.

Ava Hilarie

Operations Intern

Western New England University '25

Ava is a junior at Western New England University studying sports management. As a two-sport high school varsity athlete, Ava continued to play softball at WNE before tearing her Achilles sophomore year. In the summer of 2023, Ava was a Sports Coordinator Intern with Boston Ski and Sports Club and looks forward to growing her sports management experience with Bay State Games. A fun fact about Ava is that to celebrate her high school graduation, Ava went skydiving!

Nathan Hlawek

Operations Intern

Nathan Hlawek joins Bay State Games as an Operations Intern for the 2024 Summer Games. Nathan is double majoring in operations & information management and sports management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is currently working as an Operations Intern for UMass Athletics. Nathan is from Westborough and went to Westborough High School.

Bryan Kane

Bryan Kane joins the Bay State Games as an Operations Intern for the 2024 Summer Games. Bryan is from Millis, MA and graduated from Millis High School in 2021. He is finishing his junior year at Western New England University where he is majoring in Sports Management, and he hopes to pursue a career in sports. Next year, he plans to finish his degree and complete his final year as a safety for the Western New England Golden Bears.

Michael Maiava

Operations Intern

Tufts University '25

Born and raised in Hawai’i, Michael is now in his junior year at Tufts University where he plays offensive tackle for the football team and is majoring in economics and finance. With a passion for all sports, he hopes to pursue a career in coaching and/or sports management. When he is not busy with football and school, Michael enjoys playing video games, rooting on the Boston Celtics, and spending time with his family & friends.

Annie Pratt

Operations Intern

UMass Amherst '25

Annie Pratt joins Bay State Games as an Operations Intern for the 2024 Summer Games. Annie is studying Sport Management and Communication at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and is currently an intern for Game Day Operations, which includes preparing the field for the game, communicating with the officials and the visiting team, as well as many different in- game jobs. Originally, Annie is from Syracuse, New York.
